Back Story:

When stepping into the skincare world it can often be confusing and frustrating. When I first started using skincare in everyday life, I had no idea what I was doing. I did not know what skincare was best for my skin type, I had no idea what steps came first or last. When it comes to skincare, one size doesn't fit all. Skin is unique and finding a routine that works for your specific skin type is key to achieving your skin goals. Once I mastered building my own routine, my skin massively improved. In this guide, I will walk you through a step by step process to create your own skincare bubble - a routine tailored to your needs.

Step 1: Know Your Skin Type

Before actually building your skincare bubble, you need an understanding of your skin type.

  • Dry Skin: Feels tight or flaky

  • Oily Skin: Shiny with visible pores

  • Combination Skin: Oily areas but dry everywhere else

  • Sensitive Skin: Easily irritated

My personal skin type: My skin type is dry and sensitive. My skin often feels tight but also is prone to getting red and irritated by washing my face.

Step 2: Cleanse Your Skin Bubble

Cleansing is an essential part of any routine. My tip is to pick a cleanser suited to your skin type.

  • Dry Skin: Choose a creamy, hydrating cleanser

  • Oily Skin: Choose a gel based cleanser

  • Sensitive Skin: Choose gentle, non scented cleanser

My tip: I like to wash my face in the morning and night to remove oils and makeup, which keeps my skin fresh and clean

Step 3: Balance Your Bubble

Adding a toner into my skincare routine has significantly reduced redness and restored my skins pH balance.

  • For dry or sensitive skin: choose alcohol free, hydrating toner

  • For oily or acne prone skin: choose a toner with salicylic acid

What does it really do: Toning keeps your skin balanced and ready for hydration

Step 4: Target Problem Bubbles

I love adding in a serum into my routine because it adds a boost of glow and hydration to my skin.

  • Hydration: Hyaluronic Acid

  • Acne: Niacinamide

  • Dullness: Vitamin C

Step 5: Seal Your Skincare Bubble

Moisturizing is a must, no matter your skin type. It locks in all the good hydration from the pervious steps and keeps your skin healthy.

  • Dry Skin: Choose a rich, creamy moisturizer

  • Oily Skin: Choose a light weight, gel moisturizer

My tip: I use a rich moisturizer on both my face and neck to ensure everything is healthy and hydrated

Step 6: Protect Your Bubble

I used to hate using Spf in my skincare bubble, but it has become a non negotiable. UV damage can harm your skin and enhance dryness

  • Use an Spf 30 or above

  • Choose a light weight
